When You Don't Feel Qualified

Have you ever felt unqualified for what God’s asking you to do?
Maybe it’s leading a small group, having that complicated conversation, or stepping into a role that stretches you. The first thought that comes to mind is, “I’m not ready. Someone else could do it better.”
If you’ve ever felt that tension between calling and confidence—you’re not alone.
There have been so many moments in my own life where I’ve thought, “Lord, I think You’ve got the wrong person.” But God keeps reminding me that He doesn’t wait for us to be fully ready—He just asks us to be willing. You don’t have to be fully ready to be used—you just have to be fully His.
He takes ordinary people, with imperfect words and shaky faith, and does extraordinary things through them.
“But Moses said to God, ‘Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?’ He said, ‘But I will be with you.’” — Exodus 3:11–12 (ESV)
It’s not about how capable we feel, it’s about Who goes with us.
I’ve seen this again and again. A young man who doubted his leadership started mentoring others, and now he’s helping others discover their gifts. A friend who once felt unworthy now leads with humility and confidence in God’s strength.
When we step forward—nervous, unsure, but willing—God meets us there.
Reflection:
Where might God be calling you to step out even though you don’t feel ready?
What would change if you trusted that His presence is your qualification?
